Ludocracy Now

I’m not a huge fan of solo gaming but since my nights and weekends have been compromised it’s one of the only opportunities I have to play with cardboard.

This morning I reacquainted myself with Mage Knight and survived two rounds before I realized I had been abusing Goldyx’s flight power.  Also I was having a devil of a time remembering any rules at all.  A frustrating experience but this is the kind of game that you have to put time into and I expect to reap rewards the next time I give this title a go.  Which will be sooner rather than later, I’m sure.

A city conquest game of Mage Knight last night with Mike.  My first game and I was happy to eschew the walk through and get right into a “real” scenario.  Mike’s first non-walk through game.  I begged to be spared from PvP rules and he acquiesced.

Took us three hours but it was awesome.  Exploration, battle, interesting synergies between cards, unintelligible symbols that create the most interesting math and programming problems you’ve ever tried… I loved it.  I spent the end of Night 3 trying to amass a hand that could deal with the Ice Dragons in the Red city, but before I could Mike had swung through the Green city and had enough left over to finish off the second one.  My early exploration and keep conquest kept the scores relatively close (well, closer than I was anticipating) as my Tovak scored 86 to Arytheia’s 117.  Ok, so maybe 31 points isn’t all that close but there’s no where to go but up!

Probably more Crokinolympics happening today with (hopefully) a dash of Summoner Wars so stay tuned…
