Ludocracy Now

Jeff and I sometimes like to play “recluse” on Friday evenings.  Tonight was one of those evenings.

In the course of our scorning the rest of humanity, we played three matches of Crokinole and contrary to both of our expectations I won two out of three!

First Match, Jeff serves first game:

Joe - Jeff - Joe - Joe: A late break gives me the win!  I also think it was the third game where I opened the board with three straight 20’s.  It was heaven.

Second Match, Jeff serves:

Jeff - Joe - Tie - Jeff: We’ve, or maybe just I’ve, noticed that 2nd player generally has the advantage as they get the final puck.  This match opened with two breaks followed by a tie on my Return which spelled disaster for me.  Jeff handily wins on my serve for the match win.

Third Match, Jeff serves:

Joe - Jeff - Tie - Joe: Sod all, I’ve tied on Jeff’s serve in the third board which sets me up for defeat.  The final puck on the fourth board sees Jeff with one puck on the 5 pt and me with one in the 15.  If he can clear my puck he wins.  He lines up, shoots and … puts mine right in the 20 hole while bouncing his shooter to the 10.  I win the board, and the match, by five measly points.

I’m enjoying it because this may be the last time I ever beat Jeff in a Crokinole match!
